HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM) - The Pink Ribbon Fund, which serves Pine Belt patients battling breast cancer, has received their biggest donation ever from the Deanna Favre Hope Foundation.

Deanna Favre recently presented Pink Ribbon officials with a check for 100-thousand dollars to assist the fund's mission of providing financial assistance related to the treatment of breast cancer.

According to the organization's co-founder, Susan Light, the Pink Ribbon Fund serves patients living in 17 Pine Belt area counties.

Light said the donation, "Will enable us to triple the amount of money that we can grant to each patient. And unfortunately the really sad part is, it came at a wonderful time because our donation requests have doubled in 2010."

Light said that increase could be partly due to greater public knowledge about the group's work. Currently, the Pink Ribbon Fund is planning their annual fund raising gala, which is set for September 18th at the Canebrake Country Club.
