Hattiesburg, MS (WDAM) - A longtime administrative assistant to five presidents at the University of Southern Mississippi has retired.

Jewel Tucker started her career within the School of Nursing, from there she moved to the Management Department at The School of Business. Following her time in those two departments, she began a new journey aiding five different Presidents at the University.

Tuckers says, for the last 35 years she has seen so much growth at USM and has made life long friends.

"It's been great, I don't think I could have ended it on a better note."

Tucker notes one of the highlights of her career at USM was getting the opportunity to meet and travel with Oseola Mcarty.

"I would say to anybody who comes next  give it all the gusto you've got! You only have one life and don't mess it up. Come in wanting to be the best you can be and after you have done that then you know it is time to move on."

Tucker plans on finishing two books she started a while back. A cook book as well as a book on Osco Mcarty all while spending more time with her husband and grand-children.
