PURVIS, MS (WDAM) - A new Christian ministry that will soon provide homes for children in crisis invited supporters to see the progress of construction of its headquarters Saturday. An open house was held this morning at Homes of Hope for Children in Purvis.
Supporters were invited to tour a new cottage, commissary, office and staff-housing facility. These buildings are part of the first phase of construction at the homes of hope which will include three more, also in the first phase.
"The kids that we serve come from different types of backgrounds. Some of them come from a courageous home, where a parent or guardian just wants something better for them. Maybe, they're just stuck in a rotten situation. Some of them don't have a parent involved in their life. Some of them have suffered abuse, maybe dysfunction or something like that in their home life. Whatever it is, they can't stay home, they can't live with their parent or guardian," said Executive Director Michael Garrett.
When construction is complete, Homes of Hope for Children will be able to house 42 children. By mid-July, they hope to be housing seven boys.
