HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Nearly three dozen South Mississippians are among our nation's newest citizens. Today, 35 people from 22 different countries gathered at the federal courthouse in Hattiesburg to take the oath of allegiance to become naturalized citizens.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert Walker of Gulfport presided over the ceremony and presented certificates to the new citizens.
Last year, more than 740,000 people were naturalized by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
