Mississippi crisis centers shifting to nonprofits

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The state Department of Mental Health is handing over operations of six Mississippi crisis intervention centers to various nonprofit community mental health centers.

Community mental health centers selected to run the crisis centers each will receive $1.5 million from the state next fiscal year.

DMH executive director Ed LeGrand tells The Clarion-Ledger that the transition was necessitated by state budgets cuts.
