Former owner of cemeteries sentenced

BOONEVILLE, Miss. (AP) - A former owner of two north Mississippi cemeteries has been sentenced to a year and a half in jail on two counts of failure to file cemetery records.

The attorney general's office says Don Middleton was convicted Tuesday in Prentiss County Justice Court. Attorney General's Office spokeswoman Jan Schaefer says Justice Court Judge Billy Sartin sentenced Middleton to six months on each count, to be served consecutively. Middelton also was fined $1,800.

Middleton is the former owner Prentiss Memorial Gardens in Baldwyn and Liberty Memorial Gardens in Booneville.
