Jayess man accused of killing girlfriend, storing in freezer

JAYESS, MS (WDAM) - Authorities have released the mug shot of a man they believe is responsible for the death of his live-in girlfriend whose body was found shot and stored in a freezer at the couple's home in Jayess.

Robert Wayne Silvia, 56, is charged in the death of 52-year-old Darlene Berthelot.

He was arrested Friday in Walthall County where bond was set at $250,000.

Deputies found Berthelot's body in the freezer Thursday after responding to a welfare call from her daughter, who lives in Louisiana.

The Walthall County coroner said the woman had been dead about four or five days before her body was found.
