Hattiesburg police nab 49 in early Sunday roundup

HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM) - A Sunday morning sting operation by the Hattiesburg Police Department resulted in the arrest of 49 people on felony drug and weapons charges.

Members of the SRTIKE, NET, and Interdiction teams, as well as representatives from the FBI, U.S. Marshals, and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics conducted the early morning raid in several parts of the city.

Forty-nine people were taken into custody on various felony charges including the sale of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and weapons possession by a convicted felon.

Seized in the raid were six marijuana plants, one-and-a-half pounds of marijuana, three weapons, one-and-a-half ounces of crack cocaine, and one vehicle.
