U.S. Marshals arrest New Orleans murder suspect in Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A New Orleans man wanted for murder and attempted murder has been arrested by federal marshals hiding under the bed of a family member's home in Hattiesburg.

Karl Dauphine, 20, was arrested at an apartment at 104 Nugget Court in Hattiesburg.

A 9 mm handgun that may have been used in the New Orleans was also recovered at the scene.

Dauphine was one of three suspects being sought by authorities for the May 1 murder of Deiontay Melacon and the attempted murder of another person.

The other two suspects have been apprehended.

Authorities credit a tip to the New Orleans branch of Crimestoppers in locating Dauphine.
