HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A special legislative committee set up by Lt. Governor Phil Bryant to review the state's response to the oil spill will meet for the first time on Thursday. An 8-member Senate select committee will convene at 1 p.m. in Biloxi.
Bryant says the group will get together with him in about a month to discuss their findings and implement any recommendations they make.
"The purpose of this is two-fold," said Bryant. "One, to make sure people understand, get the information about what the State of Mississippi is doing, what's our attack plan on this enemy that's out there, that is the oil. And secondly, do we need to be doing anything more, is there more that we can be doing," Bryant said.
He spoke to us Wednesday night before he addressed Boys State at Southern Miss.
