Armed Forces Museum being renovated

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - One of Hattiesburg's top tourist attractions has been undergoing some modest changes over the last couple of months. The Mississippi Armed Forces Museum at Camp Shelby has been recently re-painted and re-landscaped.

The reception area is being remodeled and the gift shop has been relocated and enlarged. A new conference room has also been added.

"For those who've visited the museum before, if you walk in the doors today, you will see really, a different museum," said Chad Daniels, museum director. "The front area's in the process of being renovated, then the galleries, we're doing modest improvements here and there and we're excited about some new exhibits that will be coming in the fall," Daniels said.

The museum is open some additional hours for the Memorial Day holiday.

It will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday and all day on Monday.
