Jones County (WDAM)- An offset head-on collision on Trace Road on Tuesday has left the adult female driver of a Nissan Altima suffering serious injuries and the adult male driver of a Ford F250 pickup with less serious injuries.  Units from Sharon Volunteer Fire & Rescue and Shady Grove Volunteer Fire & Rescue were dispatched at 5:04 P.M. to the report of the accident and responded with Sharon Rescue 1 and Shady Grove Medical First Responders and firefighters.  Upon arrival, the adult female was reported trapped in her car and was extricated by volunteer firefighters using hydraulic rescue tools.

Both drivers were transported by EMServ Ambulance Service in two ambulances to South Central Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.  In addition, two units from the Jones County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene.  The roadway was closed at #1052 Trace Road for over an hour as rescue, accident investigation and vehicle recovery operations were conducted.  Sharon Volunteer Fire & Rescue Chief Mike Hodge served as Incident Commander during the fire department response to the incident.  The accident occurred shortly after a thunderstorm moved through the area leaving the roadway slick.
