Dozens celebrate museum's 1st anniversary

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hattiesburg's African-American Military History Museum is celebrating its one-year anniversary. Today, dozens of people gathered for a birthday celebration.

It featured food and other refreshments and a special recognition of museum volunteers. The facility focuses on the contributions of African-Americans in our country's armed conflicts.

Both museum committee members and visitors say the museum is a unique asset to the Hub City.

It's located in the old East 6th Street USO building and is operated by the Hattiesburg Convention Commission.
