JACKSON, MS (WDAM) - Mississippi officials say just over $1 million is still available for rebates on the purchase of energy-efficient appliances.
The state received $2.8 million for the rebates under the federal stimulus package, and 57 percent of the money has been used. The State Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program is designed to spur economic activity and reduce energy consumption.
The Mississippi Development Authority says about 13,500 appliances have been sold in the state since the program started last month. The first-come, first-served rebates range from $50 to $750, depending on the appliance.
Rebates are not available for online sales.
