Protesters want BP's assets seized

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Some Hattiesburg residents are joining other activists across the country in calling on the government to seize the assets of British Petroleum.

About a half-dozen protesters carried signs tonight at the intersection of Westover Drive and Highway 98, demanding the government take control of the company's assets in the wake of the Gulf oil spil.

They want those assets used to pay for clean-up costs and damages.

The Hattiesburg protest was one of about 20 across the country tonight.
