LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - A motion of a change of venue in the case of the man accused of striking and killing 5-year-old Nathan key with his car has been denied.

A hearing was held Wednesday afternoon at the Jones County Circuit Court. Defense attorneys for Dominic Gebben argued that media coverage and the community's participation in this case would not result in a fair trial for Gebben.

The defense also motioned for a continuance, because they said they would need more time to prepare.

Judge Billy Joe Landrum denied both requests. Prosecutors said they are pleased the trial will go on without any changes.

Gebben's trial is set for June 7.
