City issues proclamation on food drive

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hattiesburg city leaders are hoping their fellow citizens will get behind an annual effort to help local food banks. Today, Hattiesburg mayor Johnny Dupree issued a proclamation recognizing Saturday as National Food Drive Day for the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Dupree hopes citizens will remember to leave bags of non-perishable food items at their mailboxes tomorrow morning for letter carriers to retrieve. Those bags will be distributed to agencies who feed the needy.

This is the 18th year for the national food drive.
