Students chat live with children in Spain

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Some young Hattiesburg students got a crash course in Spanish language and culture today from a many of their peers who live thousands of miles away. A class of third graders at Thames Elementary School used the online phone service Skype to speak to fellow students at a school near Barcelona, Spain this morning.

It was the first time the service has been used in teacher Elvira Deyamport's Spanish class. The children exchanged questions and answers about food, families, sports and music.

Teachers hope the students can use the service to chat with other students in Argentina as well.
