ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - An Ellisville man learned Monday stealing a truck filled with medical waste is never a good idea - especially when it can't go over the speed limit.

Investigators said at around 11 a.m. Hollis Ashley, 36, and his girlfriend were heading south on I-59 when they had an argument and she threw him out of the car at exit 88 in Ellisville.

Shortly after, a Clean Earth employee pulled up at the Exxon gas station just off of the exit ramp and went inside the store. That was when Ashley allegedly stole his Penske rental truck, which was filled with hazardous medical waste.

Investigators said he headed down the interstate, but the vehicle was equipped with a restrictor plate preventing it from exceeding 60 mph.

Ashley then allegedly led Forrest County officers down Hwy 49 south towards Paul B. Johnson Park. In an attempt to turn the truck around, Ashley got stuck in a ditch, and officers arrested him.

Ashley has been turned over to the Jones County Sheriff's Department and is charged with grand larceny. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
