Hattiesburg City Hall accepting donations for tornado survivors

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Organizations in Hattiesburg are coming together in a city-wide relief effort to support the families affected by recent tornadoes.

Donation centers have been set up on the second floor of City Hall at 200 Forrest Street and Krispy Kreme on 98 West across from Wesley Medical Center. 

The immediate needs are water/sports drinks, canned foods, bath supplies/soap, paper towels, and toiletries.

Krispy Kreme is offering a free glazed doughnut to anyone who brings in a donation by Saturday May 8th.

Organizers ask all donations be taken to City Hall by Friday, May 9th. 

The Leadership Pinebelt group of 2010 will be delivering supplies to Yazoo City on Monday, May 10, 2010.

    Southern Miss looks to add a Conference USA tournament title to its regular season crown this week in Biloxi. The Golden Eagles (39-15, 23-6 C-USA) open tournament play against UAB on Wednesday at 4 p.m. inside MGM Park. "Certainly, this tournament it's no different than a regional atmosphere, that's what it's about,” said USM head coach Scott Berry.
