HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - An elderly Hattiesburg man died late Tuesday from complications resulting from a freshwater drowning.
Daniel W. McNair Sr., 78, and another man were fishing Tuesday on the main lake at Lake Serene when waves caused by high winds capsized their small boat.
The accident happened not far from shore along the area known as South Point.
Deputies said a property owner jumped in the water and pulled the victim to shore. Emergency rescue teams were able to revive him. However, officials said he died late Tuesday at Wesley Medical Center from complications.
The other fisherman, a 72-year-old man, was not injured.
