HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Southern Miss has been named one of the most green colleges in the nation.

USM's Office of Sustainability was launched two years ago, and it is already being recognized by one of the nation's top education service and evaluation companies, The Princeton Review.

Larry Lee, Chief Sustainability Officer at Southern Miss said, "Sixty-eight percent of students are now considering how green a College is when making a decision, so when they flip to the 2010 edition of The Princeton Review and they see Southern Miss as the green school in Mississippi, that makes me proud."

The Princeton Review partnered with the Washington, D.C. - based U.S. Green building council in highlighting schools with the best programs devoted to sustainability around campus, as well as in the classroom.
