HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Southeastern Regional Response Team is one of the groups headed to Yazoo City to help with rescue and recovery efforts after today's tornado. More than two dozen members of the Hattiesburg Fire Department who are on the team left this afternoon.
They are taking rescue equipment and other supplies.
"Primarily, our responsibilities are on collapsed buildings," said David Webster, Chief of the Hattiesburg Fire Department. "They'll do search for victims, helping to stabilize those situations and just aid in recovery efforts," Webster said.
He says the team could remain in the area 3 to 5 days if needed.
