Former Marion County deputy busted for meth

MARION COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A former Marion County sheriff's deputy who served two years in prison for manslaughter is back in jail.

Greg Elkins was arrested Sunday and charged with DUI, reckless driving, possession of meth, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Elkins pleaded guilty to manslaughter in 2006 and served two years in jail.

Elkins shot and killed deputy Paul Hooper in 2005 in what prosecutors called a heat of passion incident.
