Hattiesburg Mayor proclaims Sunday as Bullying Awareness Day

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny Dupree will claim Sunday as Hattiesburg's Bullying Awareness Day this afternoon. 

Mayor Dupree will present an official proclamation to anti - bullying advocate Jessica Cofield.

The proclamation kicks off National Bullying Awareness Week in the United States.

Cofield is scheduled to speak to Forrest General Hospital's Spirit Girls at 2:30 p.m. today.

The event is part of Cofiled's Southeast USA tour with her powerful message of inclusion, diversity, and respect.

The meeting will be held in Forrest General's cafeteria meeting rooms.

    Following a school-record 55 wins and run that ended in an 8-7 loss in the NJCAA national championship, Jones County Junior College softball is eager to open the 2018 season on February 3. Coming that close to the school’s first national title serves as motivation enough for the Lady Bobcats. Regardless, expectations are always high for coach Chris Robinson’s teams – JCJC is a combined 105-12 the last two seasons.
