Boleyn faces sentencing after guilty verdict

A Jones County mother of two has been found guilty of manslaughter in the shooting death of her husband five years ago.

The verdict came Tuesday after nearly two hours of deliberation.

Belinda Boleyn admitted shooting her husband Michael with a 22-caliber gun in April 2005.

Her attorneys, Jimmy Dukes of Hattiesburg and John Colette of Jackson, did not call any witnesses, but they argued that Boleyn shot her spouse in self-defense. They said she was abused and she feared for her life.

Boleyn was placed on house arrest until her sentencing May 17.
