ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - An Ellisville woman was badly burned in a fire at her home on Burnt Bridge Road Sunday night.
The fire was reported at 9:15 pm when calls to 911 indicated children were inside the burning home. When the Ellisville Fire department arrived, they found everyone had escaped from the home uninjured except for the woman.
The women was treated at the scene and then transported to South Central Regional Medical Center. She was later airlifted to the University of South Alabama in Mobile.
Fire officials said the fire originated in the rear of the home and quickly spread throughout the structure. The home was a total loss.
Firefighters from several District One departments were on the scene for more than three hours.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
