Guard unit signs covenant with City of Laurel

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - The National Guard's 184th Expeditionary Sustainment Command signed a Community Covenant with the City of Laurel Sunday afternoon.

The signing ceremony was held at the Laurel National Guard armory. 

Laurel Mayor Melvin Mack signed the covenant for the city.  Also signing was the commander of the 184th, Brigadier General Philip Fisher and Mississippi Adjutant General, Major General William Freeman.

The Community Covenant is a program designed to foster and sustain effective community partnerships to improve the quality of life for soldiers and their families.

The 184th will deploy to Iraq in September for a years tour of duty.
