U.S.M. students take part in "Big Event"

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hundreds of Southern Miss students spent this morning reaching out to help the Hattiesburg community in a "big" way. They were part of the first-ever, Big Event at Southern Miss.

It was an outreach program to give students a chance to give-back to the Hub City.

More than 400 students volunteered for several community projects, or gave their time to help local organizations from the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club to the Hattiesburg-area Habitat for Humanity.

The Big Event originated at Texas A&M University.
