3 men jailed for drugs after roadblock

COVINGTON COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A routine roadblock by Covington County authorities has led to the arrest of 3 men on drug charges. In custody tonight are Corey Mathis, 30, of Simpson County, Kedrick Adams, 22, of Carson and Anthony Mikell, 21, of Bassfield.

All face charges of possession of marijuana and stolen property after their vehicle fled a safety checkpoint on Lowery Road today. Authorities say the suspects allegedly threw 2, one-pound bags of marijuana out of the car as they drove away.

They were caught a short time later.

Mathis also faces a charge of possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.
