HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A national organization looking to provide better services for babies and toddlers in foster care is teaming up with Forrest County.

The organization Zero To Three met in Hattiesburg Wednesday with policy makers and well as court leaders and advocates to stress the importance of having trusting relationships built while in foster care.

Project leaders say by coming together, courts can come up with ways to better facilitate the system while looking out for the best interest of the child.

"Typically in a lot of jurisdiction they move from one home to another to another, so they don't ever have that opportunity to form the nurturing relationship that's so critical for their healthy development," said Project Director, Lucy Hudson.

The program also gives parents and foster parents insight on how to build those relationships and keeping them intact.
