Viewpoint - Pelosi's Big Push

To use a football analogy…I guess you could say that healthcare reform is 4th and goal on about the 8 or 9-yard line with Nancy Pelosi calling the signals.  The Democratic leadership seems determined to get the controversial healthcare bill rammed through regardless of what the fans in the stands think.  If you read the various respected polls it is evident that the majority of American people are against passing this monstrosity now in its present form.  The politicians may get it passed by hook or crook but they will pay a big price for going against the will of the people who put them in office.  Sadly, if this initiative gets passed as it is now configured; the ones who will pay the most will be future generations of taxpayers.

While most would agree that some sort of healthcare reform is needed and even long overdue…the sheer volume of this bill makes the contents virtually incomprehensible even to the lawmakers charged with voting on it.  It needs to be shorter, greatly simplified, and in keeping with traditional American values.

The people have signaled that they would be relieved if Congress and the President would go back to the drawing table and work together across party lines to come up with something less radical and more cost efficient.  Something the majority can understand and believe in.  The Democratic majority would be far better served to back off their drive to cram this thing down our collective throats….take a deep breath….listen to the people and work across the aisle to come up with true helpful health care reform that makes sense.  I'm Jim Cameron and that's today's Viewpoint.  Let us know what you think.
