HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- Southern Miss kicked off its 100th anniversary celebration at this year's Hubfest.
A rendition of the eagle walk paraded through downtown Hattiesburg led by university president Dr. Martha Saunders.
The walk featured members of the pride drum line, current and former southern miss athletes and Seymour, the Southern Miss mascot.
"We're getting ready to celebrate our 100th birthday on Tuesday and I think it's very appropriate that we start kicking off this celebration with the city of Hattiesburg," said Saunders. "The city of Hattiesburg worked hard to get the Mississippi Normal College back in 1910. They out bided all competitors they fought hard for it and it's been a great partnership ever since."
