CANTON, Miss. (AP) - A Canton man has been charged with murder in the death of his ex-wife. Assistant Police Chief Bracy Coleman tells The Clarion-Ledger that Joseph Robert Reith was arrested in the Tuesday night slaying.

Coleman says the woman, who has not been identified, died of multiple stab wounds in an incident at an apartment complex in Canton. Coleman says an argument about a child the two share, who was not at the apartment, apparently led to the killing.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Reith was being held in the Madison County Jail pending an initial court appearance.
