Widow of Hattiesburg man killed while asking directions takes stand again
HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The widow of a Hattiesburg man shot to death in Moss Point in 2008 took the witness stand for a second time Tuesday.
Linda Bell Porter told jurors about the night in October of 2008 when her husband Michael stopped at a convenience store to ask directions to their grandson's football game. He was shot to death by a teenager.
Terry Hye is the second suspect to stand trial for capital murder in Porters' death.
Darwin Wells, 16, was found guilty of manslaughter late last year and sentenced to life in prison.
Linda Porter told jurors three men were standing outside the store, and two jumped her husband as he tried to get back into their car. A third came around the back of the car and shot him through the window.
