Blood drive honors late firefighter

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Some Jones County firefighters are helping to save lives while honoring one of their own who died during firefighter training. An annual community blood drive today hosted by the Pleasant Ridge Volunteer Fire Department and United Blood Services was in memory of Renee Clark, a Pleasant Ridge volunteer who died of a heart attack while training in 2005.

Clark organized the first community blood drive for that department in 2002.

Fire department officials hoped to collect about 30 units of blood today.
