Body found in Prentiss house fire

PRENTISS, MS (WDAM) - A burned body has been found in the rubble of a home in Prentiss.

A fire broke out at a home on Mount Zion Lane in around 4:30a.m.  Prentiss fire chief Howard Kelly said a family of three lived there along with another man lived with them.

Kelly also said the family got out safely, and thought the other occupant was not home at the time.

The fire department was called back to the scene Sunday afternoon after the man was reported missing.

Fire officials found a body inside the home, but they haven't confirmed if the body is that of the other occupant.

Jeff Davis County coroner Greg Blackwell said the body will be sent off for autopsy.  There is no word on what started the blaze.
