Teenager who shot Laurel police officer appears in court

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - The teenager who allegedly shot a Laurel police officer a few weeks ago appeared in court Wednesday.

Ira Hadley, 17, appeared in Jones County Circuit Court where Judge Billy Joe Landrum sentenced Hadley to serve the remainder of his 20-year sentence on two counts of armed robbery.

Hadley violated his probation when he escaped from the Jones County jail in October.

While on the run, Hadley allegedly committed two more armed robberies and shot a police officer in the upper thigh and right foot as the officer tried to apprehend him.

Hadley is expected to go to trial later this year for aggravated assault on a police officer.
