JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A former JCJC employee is behind bars after pleading guilty to embezzlement.
Tracy Laird, 40, admitted to stealing $90,000 from Jones County Junior College where she worked for 10 years in the accounting department.
The District Attorney's Office said Laird would write checks from her personal account to the college and intercept the mail from Community Bank which contained all returned checks.
Laird was sentenced to 10 years in jail and is required to repay more than $110,000 dollars in restitution.
Five of the 10 years will be suspended.
