WAYNESBORO, MS (WDAM) - Waynesboro police have made an arrest in connection with the murder of a man whose body was found by hunters in November.

Sandy Powe, 24, was charged the murder of Kenny Gandy, 23. Gandy's body was found in a wooded area near Hwy 45; he had been shot in the head.

Gandy had been missing since July of 2009. Powe had been in jail since Monday on unrelated charges. He made his first court appearance Friday where his bond was set at $1 million.

"A forensics team out of Hattiesburg was brought to the city of Waynesboro, and they went over the vehicle for trace evidence, and some evidence was collected," said Chief Jimmy Bunch.

"Those items will be sent to the lab for analysis, and we do feel like that more arrests may be imminent in this situation."
