By now you have no doubt seen the imagines and heard the description of the tragedy wrought by the earthquake in Haiti this week. As the most charitable state in the nation, and the most charitable nation on Earth…we are…by nature…givers. You may be wondering how you can best express your response to this phenomenal need. WDAM is partnering with the Red Cross to collect money to help the Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund. On Monday, January 18th we will be set up from 9 AM until 6 PM in Hattiesburg at Turtle Creek Mall. Then on Wednesday, January 20th we will be in Laurel at Sawmill Square Mall during the same hours. We will be broadcasting live at Midday and during our 5 PM News. The Red Cross has emphasized that for now the biggest need is not clothing, canned goods, or other items. What is needed most and what we will be collecting cash or checks. The Red Cross is on the spot assessing the needs and with the needed funds they can supply whatever is needed most in a timely fashion. These people really need our help. We have done this type of fund-raising effort in the past with resounding success and we are confident that this time will be just as gratifying. So come see us in Hattiesburg on Monday or Laurel on Wednesday and bring your donation. We look forward to it and thank you in advance for helping those in need. I'm Jim Cameron with today's Viewpoint. Contact us with what is on your mind. Here's how.
