Wayne County authorities investigating murder

WAYNE COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Authorities in Wayne County believe they have another murder on their hands.

An autopsy on the skeletal remains found in a wooded area in early November showed Kenny Gandy, 23, of Waynesboro may have been shot to death.

Gandy was reported missing by his mother in July. He was last seen at a Turner Street apartment complex in Waynesboro.

Hunters found his body in the woods in the Pleasant Grove community off Hwy 45 on November 5.

An autopsy made a positive identification and indicated Gandy died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Department is investigating the case.
