Sunday Night, the University of Southern Mississippi will play Middle Tennessee State in the New Orleans bowl.
This will be the eighth straight year and 12 out of the last 13 seasons that the Golden Eagles have gone on to post season play. Certainly some bowls have carried more prestige than others, but to have that kind of percentage of bowl appearances is certainly indicative of a football program to be reckoned with. Most of us can remember a time when past season play was only a dream for southern miss. We wish them the best as they make the journey down to the big easy to hopefully put another notch on their belt.
Somewhat ironically while they are playing on ESPN, Southern Mississippi's most famous football icon Brett Favre will be leading the Minnesota Vikings on the gridiron on NBC as they continue in their bid to make this year's super bowl.
It will be a night for Southern Miss football to be on everyone's mind. This is the kind of stuff of which legacies are built.
Congratulations and good luck all around.
