Well, another high school football season is in the books. For those who participated, it will be something they will remember for the rest of their days. We had a number of outstanding teams here in the Pine Belt. Five teams from this area went to the state playoffs in their respective divisions.
Three of them came away winning it all. We'd like to congratulate Mouth Olive High School for winner their 1st State Title since 1989 when the late NFL great Steve McNair was their quarterback.
Bassfield won their first State Championship since the mid-80's and Tylertown was crowned state champs in their division for the first time. The amount of character, discipline, and dedication it takes to go all the way is amazing.
We hope these young athletes take the lessons they've learned on the gridiron and apply them to other areas of life. As tremendous as it is to be on a state championship team…you've got a lot of years left to live.
The opportunity is yours to have many more victories and accomplishments in the game of life. Prepare yourself to succeed academically, professionally and spiritually just as you have athletically. Have a well balanced and productive life and give back to society. That's what it takes to be a real champion throughout life.
