Man dies in RV fire

By Mike McDaniel - Bio | Email | Twitter

One man is dead after a fire ripped through an RV motor home he was living in just outside of Hattiesburg's city limits. It happened last night in Lamar County at the Ridgecrest Trailer Park near Oak Grove Road.

Northeast Lamar Volunteer Fire Department chief Kyle Hill says firefighters were initially called to a mobile home fire, but realized when they got there it was actually a motor home. Hill says they were unaware anyone was inside until after the fire was out.

The unidentified man's body was found, but an exact cause of death is unknown at this time. Neighbors say the man had no family in the area and was known as Mister Bob.

A cause of the fire has not been determined and the case is now with the State Fire Marshal's Office.
