Hattiesburg Strike Team delivers meals to the needy

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - When members of the Hattiesburg Police department's strike team showed up for work Tuesday morning, they were met with orders of a different kind - to help feed the city's needy.

"We like to take the chance to let them know that we are out here for them and we are here to serve them," said Lt. Terrance Bullock.

What was served was a free thanksgiving plate lunch loaded up in the back of the Christian Services Compassion Van and then delivered to four locations in the city with a line waiting at every stop.

"We are just thankful to be able to get it and everything and thank what they done for us to have this meal," said Charles Dent, who received a plate.

This mobile feeding operation is a tradition with the police department, where the goal is to instill community policing while allowing folks to see law enforcement in a different light.
