Petal woman stabbed to death

PETAL, MS (WDAM)- The Petal police department is investigating the death of a 25 year old white female killed at an apartment complex.

The victim is identified as April Denise Tischer.  Police officials say they responded to an altercation at Cameron East Apartments on Dixie Avenue Saturday afternoon. Upon arrival they found the victim deceased. 

An autopsy was performed Sunday. Forrest County Coroner Butch Benedict said Tischer died from multiple sharp force injuries.

Police have a 24 year old white male is in custody, but they have not released his name.

This is the second homicide to occur in Petal this month.
