Petal authorities investigate murder

PETAL, MS (WDAM) - The Petal police department is investigating the death of a 25 year old female.

The victim was pronounced dead around 4:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon at a home on Dixie Avenue in Petal.  Authorities will not release her name until the next of kin is identified.

Sources with the city of Petal tell WDAM the victim was stabbed to death. 

Forrest County coroner Butch Benedict said an autopsy will be performed Sunday.

This is the second stabbing death to occur in Petal in the month of November.
