Viewpoint - Fort Hood Shooter was a Terrorist

Posted: Updated:

Unfortunately, Nidal Malik Hasan—the Radical Islamic terrorist responsible for killing 13 and wounding 29 in last week’s blood bath at Fort Hood—has awakened and is talking.

I’m sure, given what we’ve learned about his background and beliefs that he will be delighted at the fact that the Radical Islamic Fundamentalist leaders oversees are calling him a hero.  On the other hand he may be disappointed that he didn’t wake up in Paradise with his own bevy of virgins.

In Friday’s “Viewpoint” I said that…based on the troubling portrait that had already emerged…hopefully this wasn’t a case of political correctness run amuck.

After the information that has surfaced since then and more reflection over the weekend I have to conclude that I was correct the first time.  This guy was dropping more red flags than on old time referee and they were ignored by the Army.  ABC News has now reported that U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Hasan was trying to contact people associated with Al Qaeda.

It took the London Telegraph to break the story that the family of the alleged Fort Hood shooter held his mother’s funeral at the same Virginia Mosque that two Sept. 11 hijackers attended in 2001, at a time when a radical imam preached there.  We know that, as an Army psychiatrist assigned to work with soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, he would actually get into religious rants against American involvement there.  I pose the question—when the U.S. considered Communism as our biggest threat with their stated intention of overthrowing America and democracy…would we have allowed an openly communistic officer who constantly berated America and stood up for the Soviet Union to have stayed in the Army?  I think not.  Yet Army Chief of Staff General George Casey seems to be more concerned with people getting caught up in speculation about Hasan’s religious motives or any perceived threat by other Muslims than he does with honoring the dead from what Sen. Joseph Lieberman calls the greatest act of terrorism on U.S. soil since 9/11.

How many times have you seen the names or pictures of the slain and critically wounded?  They were killed by political correctness and it’s time we started calling things what they are instead of tip-toeing through the political and social tulips.  We are in a war on Islamic terrorism regardless of what the administration or anyone else thinks and the soldiers shot at Fort Hood are the most recent victims.

I’m Jim Cameron…that’s my ‘Viewpoint”…I’d like to hear from you.
