LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - Despite the tough economic times a new business has opened up in downtown Laurel.

Jones County's Economic Development Authority held a ribbon cutting ceremony for "The Courtyards" special event business.

It's a place where receptions, birthday parties, and other formal events can be held. The owners say they chose downtown because of it's vibrant location.

The average cost for an event is about $450.
